Thanks. That is how I’m leaning but there are things about L.A. I really like and I have friends there. Luckily it’s only a couple hours away.

You're going the opposite way of everyone else.
LTL pays well but be prepared for a drop in your standard of living. That money doesn't go nearly as far in CA as it does in Tennessee. Also, CA has around a 9% state income tax for the income level a typical LTL driver makes.
Lastly, I've done some driving out there, many areas of Greater LA and def San Diego were not built for big trucks. Alot of the streets are narrow and turns are tight. -
Also, there's no mileage pay. CA drivers are paid by the hour, period.
