When I first started in trucking, the first load I did to Albuquerque, my coworkers warned me about the T/A, lock the doors, don't respond if someone, knocks, etc.,. First trip, I was like WTF, and I don't shock easily, seems like the last few years they've been cleaning the place up. First time in Abq last night in 9 months, the T/A is reverting. Two security guards, one hanging out in the restaurant playing on his phone, he was there the entire hour I was there, he was there before I walked in, and he was there when I left. The second guard was hanging out in the c-store, playing on his phone and talking to the fuel desk lady. Meanwhile, on my walk from the building to my truck, there was a scary looking duo going truck to truck panhandling, I was parked on the north side of the lot, below the Chevy dealer, there was two hookers standing by the one streetlight, the one started to walk towards me, told her I wasn't interested, she flipped me off. I called inside the store and told them what was happening, sat there watching out the window, nope, no security appearance at all, no Albuquerque PD.
Albuquerque T/A is reverting to it's old ways

I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that all that money to refresh TA facilities hasn’t made it to the actual locations and they are still as dumpy and sketchy as always.
TA to spend $200 million on upgrades to showers, parking areas, and driver lounges
At least QuikTrip is expanding and adding more truck locations. While they are a touch smaller than the average Love’s in my experience, the facilities are clean, well run, with solid food options for drivers.
Abilene's new QuikTrip a core example of company's expansion effortBugEater, rabbiporkchop, striker and 1 other person Thank this. -

Was at the Whites Petro in Raphine, Va. the night before last and they shut down the restaurant and added a Quaker Steak and Lube in the adjoining parking lot. They have and continue expanding the truck parking in the back. Which brings up another point. Why these idiots are parking in no parking spots and making it harder on everyone?! When I got to the back there was still a good 50 or 60 wide open spots! And they are doing construction on the back of the building. Not sure what they’re building but they are. Raphine is one of my favorite full service truck stops. No matter what time day or night I’ve always been able to park without being creative.

Maybe the $$ for remodeling is corporate stores. Not franchise?

I went to the Albuquerque TA recently. The coffee counter is completely cleared off and there was no ice. Wish I'd gone to the Flying J for a reset.
