Bird in hand than 2 in the bush. Highly recommend staying for a least a year and just practice being safe. You control your truck so there it is. By the way , been through that job search deal and if you have bills to pay , I'd do it.
Might suck for awhile ( at least 352 days) but you don't want to be digging ditches or be a job hopper by not tryingtwelve25oh9 Thanks this. -
Take the job if you're in a rough spot. No sense drowning cause you think the boats too small.
ncmickey and twelve25oh9 Thank this. -
That job sounds like a winner to me!!! If your record is sketchy, you better take what you can get. Besides, if you clean your record up and you're not happy where you are, you can always go somewhere else.....but you gotta have a job. Always go with the sure thing.

I have a friend driving UPS doubles terminal to terminal. I don't know the name of the company he works for. He is in Phoenix and mostly runs Phoenix to Tucson and back. But, sometimes goes to Palm Springs.
He's been doing this about a month now and so far he's happy with it. But, once again, don't know the name of the company, I know he doesn't work directly for UPS. He's enjoying the fact it's a local gig and not OTR. He's a young kid (24) and really wanted more of a social life than you get with OTR. -
Always easier to find a job when you have a job .

UPDATE: So, I’ve passed the road test (which was barely a road test, my 11 year old would’ve passed) and I’m sitting at a Love’s waiting for a PM on the truck they assigned me. I’ve got some serious reservations and need input. Here’s the deal with the job:
First red flag: it’s a 1099 gig. I wasn’t told this before coming out here, didn’t know to ask. It’s 1099, but pays like a w2 job…50cpm loaded, 20cpm empty. I’m potentially financially responsible for everything that entails, as well as various things like damage, late deliveries, etc.
Second red flag: the fleet, or at least the truck I’m in, is in pretty shoddy condition. A million miles, interior looks like it used to be a crack house, bald tires (just replaced those), hood won’t latch shut on one side, fairing mount busted and only held in place by the locks, etc. I foresee maintenance issues down the road.
Third red flag: I’m not comfortable driving teams. I neither want my life in someone else’s hands, nor theirs in mine. It’s a borderline deal breaker for me. I was given no indication that I’d be anything but a solo driver until I got the contract, which said I must agree to team drive if they ask me to. I won’t do it, so if they want to play hardball on that, I’ll terminate the contract.
I’ve already signed the contract, but one of the first items on it is a clause saying either party can terminate the contract at any time without cause, so I can just quit.
What do y’all think?austinmike Thanks this.
