I think you are about 3 decades late if you think you are going to find a company truck you can roll coal with. My advice to you is remember why we have a job. Pick the one that meets you home time needs and your financial goals first. The truck should only be taken into consideration if it hinders you from meeting your needs with these items. Trucking is not romantic anymore no one else cares what you drive.

It’s unreal to me the negativity I’m finding in these forums. Also the amount of reply’s I’m getting holding every word I said to scrutiny.

Yes I want to drive a truck with a manual transmission, yes I want to roal coal and no I’m not under the impression I’m going to get all that I want as a new driver. I understand I am going to have to put in my time and go through the paces of getting all the experience I need. I’m not looking at this from a job perspective. I haven’t had a job since I was 17. I’m looking at a new career and I’m not planning on working for a Mega Carrier my whole career. I have goals and I plan on meeting them.

For all of those that replied with positive feed back (#### few) I thank you and respect what you’ve said. To the rest that pick a part a guy trying to get his feet wet with info, you are who I hope to avoid when finally out there on the road. Read between the lines!

Might want to get a bit thicker skin. If you want to make it out here. People who have done this for a long time. Gave you information you didn't like. Instead of carrying a chip on your shoulder. Maybe learn from their experience.

Nothing wrong with autos but you limit your choices if you have a auto restriction. You may come across job opportunity which requires manual "qualification"

It’s no heavy haul but Old Dominion Freight still has a nearly exclusive manual fleet, even the brand new trucks.
