Do you have to stay on duty to get the detention pay?

Hey @supersnackbar I have a question that maybe you can help with. I'm asking you here, because you have good overall knowledge, and many other Shaffer drivers hang out here. If this thread isn't appropriate, just boot me out!

How do you do a 3-7 spit (3 first) on the Shaffer PeopleNet? I'm not asking how to do a split, I'm familiar with them and have used them many times. But I have no idea how to do it on the PeopleNet. I've spoke with PeopleNet support and the safety department, neither could answer the question. I used Qualcomm before and there was a checkbox telling it to calculate based on the split. On PeopleNet, I can do a 7-3 (7 first), and it alters the clocks as it should, but not with a 3 first. Do you know how to manipulate the PeopleNet to do a 3 first?

No they dont.. there is guaranteed detach and pay whether the customer pays it or not…I’ve had it where at Walmart DC had no empty trailers so I stayed the night next-door to the DC at the flying J in North Platte and still got my 10 hours a detention $150.. on that next check

    O.Henry Thanks this.

i did almost the same but where a preload wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be for 2-3 days. Was about time for my 10 anyways. Also if you call in and press 0 to get to the switchboard you can get with the person who deals with detention directly

    drvrtech77 and O.Henry Thank this.

I've done it both ways and it always calculates it right once both parts are complete. When you're doing a 3/7, as long as you're starting your sleeper part by the original end of your 14, and as long as you do a minimum of 7 in the bunk, it'll calculate it right...as far as how you make it stop counting down your 14 on the 1st 3 hour part like it should, I don't think you can get it to do that like it should...just a software glitch on a PN.

Everything went right yesterday as far as my unload and reload. The reload even put me in Houston's afternoon rush hour traffic and I managed to make it to Baytown in time enough to find a parking spot. I almost screwed up, but, like I've said many times, even a blind squirrel will find a nut sometimes. I delayed leaving the truckstop this morning since my delivery was from 00:01 to 14:00, and my pickup was a set 15:00, I wanted as much of my 14 available in case the shipper was slow (which they weren't)...but because I started a little later in the morning than I should have, I was pushing it getting to my shipper on time...mainly because it took over 35 minutes to get a lumper check. It was approved, but payroll never sent me the magic code. I ended up having to call them...and as it turns out, they just forgot to send it. But the shipper wasn't overly anal about being 100% on time...which I made it to their lot as the 15:00 deadline was just ticking over...now I am off to Mebane, then a load home...all the wife's pre-op visits went without a hitch, so unless she catches a bad cold or Covid by next Wed, she'll finally get her one new knee...
