Are these two reefer companies good?

Hello all, with my 6 month anniversary with the pumpkin coming up fast, I've done a ton of research into joining another company for the long term. Schneider has been decent but I'm starting to see the cracks in the woodwork, and I've never been serious aboit staying long term with them anyway. Hell, the only reason why I'm with them is because they paid for half of my CDL training.

With that being said, I've researched and came up with two carriers who would be a good fit for me, for the following reasons:

    1. Travel lanes. Both carriers run out west, which is something Schneider won't do becauss "it costs too much money to send solo drivers out west" or other BS reasons. It may sound stupid, but Schneider refusing to send drivers out west unless you run team (which i refuse to do) is my biggest reason why I want to leave them. Running out west is extremely important to me. Being routed only as far west as Kansas City and calling it OTR is a good way for me to dislike you.

    2. Equipment. The maintenance practices at Schneider are questionable at best. My first assigned truck was in horrendous condition. 710k miles and it was falling apart. My new(er) truck only has 260k miles but with Schneider's maintenance practices i can see this going downhill quickly. Both of the companies I'm interested in seem to have much better equipment and upkeep.

    3. Pay. I'll just cut the BS..pay at Schneider is terrible. I could probably make more money selling lemonade and/or driving for Swift Transportation.

There are other reasons but those are the biggest ones.

Oh, I also forgot to mention the two carriers. Magnum Transportation out of Fargo, ND and WDS Enterprises out of Shephard, MI. Both are fairly similar in travel lanes (WDS goes to California but rarely touches the east coast), both seem to have top notch equipment with all the bells and whistles, both are smaller outfits (Magnum has about 300 trucks, WDS about 100). Both have their own pros and cons (WDS trucks i believe are governed to 67 or 68, and Magnum 63 if i remember right). I'm just wondering if any of you have experience with these two companies. I most likely won't be applying to them until the spring (who wants to be thrown into the middle of a blizzard in Wyoming with zero winter driving experience). I just want something better, and these two companies tick most of the boxes for me.

WDS does not have top notch equipment and not a good rep here locally. Usually run haggard looking freight liners such as Columbia’s. They love it when you run team.- But they do go fast. You won’t see them putting their trucks in a truck show around these parts. When you have 2 years much better companies to do reefer with. Hang in there.
