How did you break in your generator?

Funny seeing this post. I was inches from picking up a Predator 3500 until I saw the Westinghouse 3600 at Home Depot for $100 less.

I bought a magnetic drain plug for the Predator but it fits the Westinghouse too. I've read both manuals and neither mentioned anything about a break-in procedure.

I used the Westinghouse to run a grinder while I did my heater box Thursday. It did great. The only thing the manual talks about is oil change intervals really. I used the oil that came with it.

 

IMO you’re over thinking it. Turn the sum ##### on and let’r hunt!

 

The suggested intervals are pretty often. I’d just run it till it gets low on oil, and shuts down,then add some. Oil changed!! Lol.

 

i did lots of research before buying the 3500 predator. broke it in with regular oil and a little 2 stroke oil mixed in and ran for about 2 hours and drained. replaced with synthetic and eliminated the charcol canister and put silicone all around the low oil shutdown. they have a tendency to short out when wet. also replace the spark plug with a ngk and build guards around each end to eliminate road moisture from entering the case. also to be on the safe side run the exhaust up the stack if u have one to keep exhaust gasses away from the sleeper. i change the oil when it gets dirty. been running for about 1.5 years for 10 hours at a time.
