Hello, I have 2012 frightliner cascadia dd15 engine with around 280,000 mile on the engine, I have this issue my engine started burning oil every 4,000 to 5,000 mile consuming 1 gallon of oil, I didn’t have any oil leak, the coolant is clean and good, the truck runs great, there is no check engine showing fault code.

Have an exhaust blowby pressure test done. The more exhaust that gets by between the piston rings and cylinder walls means oil is getting by too. You could also be losing oil through cylinder head valve guides into the cylinders.

Did you switch oil brands or viscosity recently?
I personally have not experienced it but many claim that their engines like certain brands of oil more than others. It does make sense since the additive packages are different in each oil.A5¢ Thanks this. -
On the other hand I knew an O/O that swapped oil brands on a regular basis. Always top shelf but different. He always had good service from his engines.
I cannot explain that just my experience. Maybe a question for Marie Laveau.
