This will be a 40K+ load. I-25/I-40 is 100 miles longer than going through southern Colorado and Wolf Creek Pass. Do you all just stay on the interstate usually?

I-25 south to Albuquerque, I-40 west to Flagstaff, I-17 South to Phoenix, 888 miles, Easier grades and less weather problems.

    Dave_in_AZ and JC1971 Thank this.

You will hate yourself for the rest of your life if you take that route to save 100 miles.

Oops....hit send accidentally. You would hate yourself if you were empty too. Unless you want to stop and ski along the way.

Up and down Raton is what it is. After that.....40 west to 17 south is a breeze.

    JC1971 Thanks this.

This...I've done Wolf Creek, It's not fun...there are songs about it. Raton has maybe 5 miles of steep ( half up, half down), weigh station at the summit going south, grade out of flagstaff is easy. Fueling options are spotty in NM. There's a Loves in Pueblo, CO and another on 40 in ABQ - a few mom and pops in between, so plan those stops. You're going to waste a ton of time taking Wolf Creek, and this late in the year, you could easily get shut down due to weather.

ETA: south side of Raton has construction, one lane and narrow. GPS might try to tell you it's closed...it's probably not, but check the DOT signs in Trinidad

I used to take the 285 way all the time because it is just prettier than going thru Colorado Springs. They do a good job clearing it usually I never had any real bad roads thru there.
