This will be a 40K+ load. I-25/I-40 is 100 miles longer than going through southern Colorado and Wolf Creek Pass. Do you all just stay on the interstate usually?

I-25 south to Albuquerque, I-40 west to Flagstaff, I-17 South to Phoenix, 888 miles, Easier grades and less weather problems.

Up and down Raton is what it is. After that.....40 west to 17 south is a breeze.

ETA: south side of Raton has construction, one lane and narrow. GPS might try to tell you it's closed...it's probably not, but check the DOT signs in Trinidad -
I used to take the 285 way all the time because it is just prettier than going thru Colorado Springs. They do a good job clearing it usually I never had any real bad roads thru there.
