I was shown that a large (26 oz or more) bottle of Sprite or 7UP soaking the troublesome lumber lift after pushing it back together and left to dry during a lunch break will stop the creeping.
The receiver may have ant problems on that bundle but you don't know why!

On pallet wood, one of the things I found to work was not to over tighten the straps. Good and snug, but not so tight it puts a squeeze on the bundles.

I would like to know who the hell ordered a brand new step deck that the bottom deck height is 48 inches. This seems counterintuitive-
