Always a pleasure to read the advice to other drivers!
Last August 2020 I backed over a traffic sign 03:30 in the morning, very dark, very tired, trying to make a 2nd appointment for unload 04:00 in New Hampshire at a natural foods warehouse with no onsite parking.
Had to back onto a quiet hwy and just as I started to the turn a car came and distracted me, after they passed slowly I backed on out unfortunately over a traffic sign which neatly damaged a tractor drive tire and put a small crack in the rear seam of the p/s fuel tank. in shock frankly for my stupidity, I decided to drive closer to receiver and inspect in a better, safer location. No air leaks or unusual sounds or any indication of trouble. Pulled over in a rare place in NH to park temporarily, set my flashers, got my flashlight and discovered a small but steady fuel leak. Unstoppable and with no containers to catch the flow, I called authorities and they summoned the police, fire dept spill team, tow trucks and the Highway patrolman who
did an inspection. No citations but 3 violations for leaking fuel, damaged tire and fuel on brake area of drive axle. Missed unload and got fired when I got back to Georgia. Went home and decided to take a long rest, catch up on major chores, get Covid shots and then salvage my career. Time flies by and that was August a year ago. 5 good companies have been understanding but have told me their insurance companies rejected me! Not sure what to do now. Need advice!

I punctured a fuel tank one time. It was small, but leaking. I tapped a piece of wood in the hole with a mallet.
Reported to the company that something fell off a truck on the interstate and bounced up and hit the fuel tank.
Didn't report it until I returned to the terminal, so the EPA wouldn't get involved.
A soft wood will expand when soaked with fuel, so I knew the leak was stopped.
