I'm thinking about turning up my HP and torque. I'm pulling tankers in Sask/AB grossing about 140k pounds full/48k empty.
Right now it's not bad on flats but on hills or with headwinds...I wish I had a bit more power and torque.
Fuel mileage is kinda crappy too at about 3.9/4mpg calculated. That full one way/empty back.
I'm thinking about turning up to 600/2050. Don't want to get too high so EGTs don't get crazy...just a bit for the odd long Hill or wind.
Do you think the setup can handle the increased torque?
Will the extra 50hp even be noticeable?
Will it help with fuel mileage a bit or hurt?
    Thanks!

Give cummins your cpl # they might be able to take it up to 2050 with just a reflash, not sure though

They wont take it from 1850 to 2050 file for liabilty to damage clutch and trans and they will check.

They surely will know its deleted and wont touch it anyhow.

No I would take it to a tuning shop to get it done. I know dealerships won't touch it.
I guess I was just looking for people that may have done it and how it worked for them and the specs they started with.

While i havent done it on my MX13 YET due to cost i can tell you what ive researched. It IS doable.... however, there will be some roadblocks in your way. First your drivetrain needs to be rated for the higher torque or most wont touch it for liability reasons. I.E your tranny and clutch need to be able to handle 2050 torque for example. If you bump your horse then you also need to make sure your cooling system can handle it and that your engine is in good enough shape to take the sudden new additional stress. 50HP doesnt seem like a lot but it can cause marginal parts to gernade.

As to if your setup can handle it best bet is to find your transmission, clutch, driveshaft, diffs, and engine serial numbers look up the exact model and check. Additionally you wont see a huge gain in going up hills with HP. HP is not how fast you go up a hill its how fast you get upto speed. Torque is your hill climber and going from 1850 to 2050 will be a massive diffrence. 550 to 600HP will be nice but will have minimal impact unless you lay into the gas a lot in which case you will see a sharp drop in MPG.

As to your MPG being low only advice there is to find a reputable tuner and have them play with the truck to see if they can fix it.

Thanks for the info! I'll check into my specs a little more before I do anything.
The guy that does my tuning has 3 files for the 2350
565/1850 (which is what I've got now)
    605/2050
    625/2150
But I'll def check specs first.

Where were all these nervous technicians when they were selling me 3408’s with 1200ft/lb transmissions screwed to them and 38,000lb diffs?

Being ignored by drooling lawyers who can now get a settlement out of a little old lady when someone in the middle of robbing her falls through a skylight.

Dealer forced to pay for new clutch and transmission because overzealous driver wants to pull a 80Ton load up a mountain faster than everyone else with a right foot that is heavier than his left. Its easy to say it never happens until it does.......

I’ve seen to many in AB blow engines because they got them deleted and cranked up.

In my opinion you should only increase your HP/TQ to what that type of engine came with.

Unless you understand a deleted engine you will most likely blow it / need a rebuilt within a year.
