Select From The Two Options Below
Please give as much advice as you can what has worked for you and what has not. As a first time new buyer and how hard things are now what do you recommend. Be honest here I'm only 25 and could gain a lot from the ones out here with higher experience. Remember that cool stacks and chrome don't pay the bills so while some of these W9's are what dreams are made of give the best advice you can. I have a hotshot running so I have my own authority. If you have any pointers there as well I am willing to listen.
Option One
70K+50K Finance (2019 Pete 579 or Kenworth 680) Under 400k Miles.
That Truck Can Be Seen Here <---Click
PROS:
CONS:
- More comfortable truck
- More fuel economy
- Dealer is telling me about Premium2000 (I have read some threads on here apparently they can suck or help who knows the truth please help.)
- Says that with that warranty I can walk into any dealer or service shop and get a repair done. (Dealer claims this again I have read some of the things people say about Premium2000 they aren't good.)
Option Two
- Emissions? Everyone is always talking about DPF, DEF, EGR, and all the other abbreviations. Some say that all the fuel saving on a new truck can all be spent on Emissions if anything fails.
- 4 years of Debt
- Expensive repairs
- More Insurance??
70K cash upfront for a (1999-2006 KW W900) (From ohiotrucks.com) Usually 1million plus miles.
Below you can see several. In no order.
Choice 1
Choice 2
Choice 3
Choice 4
Choice 5
PROS:
CONS:
- No Debt
- (Supposedly an overhauled engine) would having an ECM scan tell me otherwise?
- Low miles on rebuilds as they claim (no paper work)
- Lots of Horsepower and torque (make the trip quicker)
- Engines can be rebuilt
- Lower operating and maintenance cost??
- No Emissions
- No ELD
Put yourself in my shoes as you once were obviously did if you are an o/o and let me know what you did wrong so I don't have to.
- No warranty (then again the newer one is third party warranty)
- No California (I get the state may suck for some people but the freight can be good though)
- More Fuel Spent
- APUs?? (No idea on that one)
- 1 million plus miles
I had a construction business and have 70K to spend on a truck.

If your just hauling your stuff locally I’d do the 2006……
And plan on rebuilding it yourself….. or have whoever does your wrenching do it -
-
What kind of trucking are you looking to do? Are you hiring a driver or driving yourself?

I live next to California. I don’t do California anymore. Not worth the headache.
Pre 07 rig, overhaul with paperwork or words don’t mean diddly squat.
You can pick up a 01-07 Coronado for 15k. And fix it as you go.
keep as much money for back up as you can. Your going to need it as things break even on newer trucks. There’s a guy in here that’s having a clutch issue on a new truck and that’s costing him a new born atm.shooter19802003 and ProfessionalNoticer Thank this. -
I would go look at those trucks very carefully and be prepared to offer half or walk away with what I have heard from that dealer…
I paid 15k for my one owner, one driver w9 ~4 years agogekko1323, Vampire, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
That Ohio Trucks dealer with all the Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks has some seriously bad reviews. I think there’s even a thread on this site about them. I wouldn’t buy a truck from there.
Magoo1968, Vampire, shooter19802003 and 3 others Thank this. -

They do, and are know for fake Google reviews. -
