My 2002 VHD has a VED12. The oil pan in pretty rotten and needs to be replaced. I called our Volvo dealer and there is no new pans anywhere worldwide (Part number#3183235) same as image below. the stock pan in 2002 has a "bubble" in the pan.

I cannot for the life of me find a new or even used pan anywhere in Canada or in the US!

The only option that I have is to buy a used engine, take the pan off and keep the engine as parts. But I don't really want to do that. Our truck only has 130K original miles and works perfectly fine and the odds it needs other parts is pretty slim.

If anyone can help to source a new or used pan, or if anyone has any idea how to fit a newer square pan from a 2004+ I would greatly appreciate it.

Not sure on the exact years. But these guys have rows and rows of Volvo power volvo trucks in the scrap yard. And piles of engines.

See if somebody would repair the pan until you can find one. Mine had a really bad looking fiberglass patch job from the previous owner, but it still held up and barely leaked. If it's a metal pan, I would guess someone could repair that as well. I would do it myself if it were mine, and I couldn't find a replacement in a reasonable amount of time.

Buying the other engine isn't necessarily a bad idea either. I've got a D16, and finding parts for it is becoming harder over time.

A wrecker wouldn't sell you just the pan?

What's wrong with the one in the picture? Doesn't look terrible from the pictures.

My pan is made of metal. It's completely rotten, I'm actually scared to touch it it's do rotten. I'll have to think about buying the engine....I just can't see myself tearing down the spare motor for too many parts. I only do around 10,000km's per year with this truck.
