What companies do y’all recommend in terms of living in the truck full time? Wanting to get rid of my apartment and take a year or two OTR saving up for a house. 28yo, no family or kids, just two cats I’d like to take with me ideally.

I don’t have my CDL yet so a company that trains would be a plus but I also have a little cash set aside I might be able to afford sending myself through CDL school so that’s not a total deal breaker.

Sorry if this has been asked before, couldn’t find anything in the search bar

Here's one that hires from approved schools and allows 2 cats to ride along.

Find something specialized would be my suggestion. Guys who haul furniture stay in these mugs.

Some companies will put you in a hotel every single night. Heavy haul companies are notorious for this , convert haulers also run custom rigs because there's not much weight and you stay out roughly 9 months at a time on a salary . You'll have a more financially free life living on the road if you have any sense of budgeting.

FFE trains and allows cats. My husband and I sold our house and lived out of our truck for years without a problem.

According to their website you have to live in Texas for their student program sadly. Appreciate the info though! First I heard of them.

The school in Dallas is for TX residents. If you live outside of TX you will go to the school in Burns Harbor, Indiana to our sister company KLLM, but you will work for FFE

You wouldn't talk to the recruiter for that. You would talk to the Safety guru at the terminal you are interested in working out of. For example I now run the New England states. My home terminal is NJ. (Which services most of the North East)

If you live in the midwest you would contact the Chicago terminal.

They have terminals from the East to the West coast.

If you want more info let me know.

    Where do you live?

I went through school at mister p express in Jeffersonville, IN. If you tell them your situation they may let you stay in truck while in training. I know they are partial to cats because they have a cat called Garfield that runs the show around there. You have to sign paperwork that no mistreating Garfield or it automatic loss of job. I have 2 cats and they said I could have them in the truck.
