Seeing what the opinions are on this route....I'm seeing the choices as I-90w to I-15s, MT84>US287>MT87>US20, or US191>US20....
I know the interstate might be the easiest but my company won't pay real miles so I get tired of getting screwed....I was thinking the second route, MT84>US287>MT87>US20, might be best for me as that other route through Yellowstone looks to be hilly...I'm a tanker and will weigh around 80k so big hills really slow us down... Thoughts ? Thanks, BT

Over to West Yellowstone is probably the quickest and there are only a handful of hills.

I usually always go that way. ( DG not allowed tho )

Over Raynolds Pass up to Norris and over to Bozeman is good as well. You can't get from Idaho Falls to Bozeman without a few hills.

Remember something. Shortest miles don't always equal fastest miles.

Yeah. When I see people say. My company doesn't pay real miles. So I want to take the shortest route. I laugh. I'll go extra miles if it gets me there quicker.

The majority of companies use PC Miler or equivalent. I have found that my paid miles are generally 3-7% less than my hub miles. I don't worry about it. It is what it is. 99% of companies will never pay HUB miles. Truckers can be a shady bunch. Guys would be intentionally driving out of route and circling the city to earn more money. Some companies are now advertising Door to Door miles. We all know how far our door to door miles are. If enough companies start to adopt that system, the others will have to follow suit. Trucking pays what trucking pays. We live with it.

Stevens will actually pay out of route miles. I got it a few times. Due to weather related out of route.

Going along side yellowstone is just fine.

Don't panic driver. You won't be the only semi using that road and the hills aren't that big.
