First off thanks in advance for any help. I am planning to head to southern NM/ west TX to work in the Permian basin. Can anyone offer advice on which frac sand companies are the better ones to haul for. Company driver.

How much experience do you have ?
When its busy they dont ask for much
When its slow they want two to three years and get picky about oilfield experience as well.
I went to a job fair in carlsbad a few years ago and the pay was not as impressive as I had heard.
Things seem to change fast down there though and with oil going up , they might be hard at it again

I have plenty of driving experience. Only one year oilfield though. I’m just planning on going down there and giving it a shot. I understand the money is up and down

Do you mind updating this thread as you go?
I might head down there as well if the money is right

I'm at Detmar Logistics in WTX. They have treated me well so far.

I've been keeping pretty busy lately. I'm not getting rich out here but I'm making decent enough money for me anyway. I'm not sure what kind of lifestyle you are trying to sustain but I earn enough to live comfortably in most of middle America.

    Don't even waste your time.
Whatever your looking for, it ain't there.

Or you can waste 6 months to a year,
Then give up and get a real job like everybody else does.

Depends on what you want to do. Yeah, you're not going to just chill out here and make big bank. Nobody is just giving away money. You're going to earn every penny. Unless you own your own truck with your own PTO, blowers and trailer then you can chill and make lots of money. Also it's not like it was in 2012 but I'm doing okay out here. I'm being treated well and have been kept very busy and am earning more money than I ever could on the interstates bumping docks. I like the oilfield because I don't leave Texas and I work 3 weeks out then 1 week home. OTR it was 3 weeks out then 2 days home. So even if the work slows down as long as I'm still able to pay the bills I'll stay here and absolute worst case scenario I can drive a local end dump and be home everyday and make okay money. That or renew my hazmat and get $30 an hour with overtime after 40 hours delivering fuel. However the oilfield is treating me pretty good. We got lots of work available for those who want it. The worst you could do is end up making what you made on the road just without dealing with all the DOT, traffic in the various cities and trying to find parking on the east coast.
