Absolutely incorrect. There most definetally companies out there that just do a 20 min to 1 hour road test. Most are smaller companies with less than say 250 trucks, but they do exist.

Ive been driving truck on and off for over 20 years, mostly in agricultural settings that did not require a CDL. 8 years ago I got my CDL while working for a rancher so I could haul cattle longer distances and across state lines. 4 years ago I started driving OTR for a reefer company, which I did full time up until this past July when I switched to a local position with the same company.

I have never, NEVER been forced or even asked to team drive. In fact the longest period of time that another driver was in the cab with me was 3 years ago when I picked up a driver who's truck had broke down and took him back to our company yard... We were in the cab together for about 15 hours, during which we were both either awake or both asleep.

I REFUSE to team for ANY reason, PERIOD!!!

I wouldn't go to hobby lobby for the simple fact they encourage the unsophisticated masses to hang cheap Chinese made replicas on their walls rather than supporting a local artist or domestic proprietor of something with a bit more class. Just my opinion, no offense to hobby lobby aficionados.

Since the pandemic started, the divorce rate has gone through the roof because couples were cooped up together 24/7 in their homes. Now imagine being cooped up with her in a closet 24/7 and you'll get an idea of what team driving with your significant other is like. It's not conducive to a healthy relationship. Heck my wife can't stand driving with me to the store. Don't get me started on what she's like on a multiple hour trip.

I was under the impression that neither the OP or the girlfriend had attended school yet. That's why I made the comment about a new carrier forcing you to team for a month or so. If they have experience that shouldn't be an issue.

I see a lot of couples drive as teams here, some do great and some not so well.
As stated before, teaming will make you see what you don't like about the other person.
I personally would never work or team drive with my wife, we have brought that up before and we both agree, it ain't happenin...

It all depends on the dynamics of the relationship and the personalities involved. There has been many couples that have driven together for years and had a great experience doing it. Just like there's couples that couldn't last a few days in a truck together without biting each others heads off.

Right after we got married My wife rode with me for two weeks .

we never had any issues . She already had a job lined up after she got her masters degree in mathematics, and had a few weeks before it started .

But then again I hit the jackpot .
Met on a blind date , when she responded to my ad in the personal section of the newspaper (remember life before AlGore invented the internet ?)

she was brilliant , from a similar socioeconomic group as me, similar religious belief, cute ,AND—- no crazy and no drama .

Second date I got food poisoning, she came back to my house and cleaned up every time after I vomited . Helped me to the bathroom etc. all night long .

After about the third date , I went shopping for rings.
Wasn’t gonna let that one get away .

Slamming a curtain isn't nearly as satisfying as slamming a wood door though. Lol
