I am looking to find truckers who run HF Amateur Radio in their truck.
My call is W5WKV,and I mostly stay on 40 meters around 7.228. I'm interested in getting a group to ragchew with on HF.

    Thanks for reading...

Yeah, I get a lot of questions. It is a Hi-Q 6-160. I think the way I have it, it is about 11' long, lol.

Ran HF for a couple of years. Found didn't use it a lot while riding traffic just too thick on east coast. Currently just running 2 meter analog. kb3csw

I've thought about bringing a rig out on the road. I'd really need to get up to General to make it worth while IMO. I've got (2) FT-2980R's just sitting at the house maybe I'll bring one of those out with me.

I'm being terminated as a cross border truck driver after tens of years in the industry due to vax mandates. I won't be able to cross in US anymore , so, they'll terminate me. Tomorrow.
I'm thinking to pick a up a hobby, and , Ham might be fun. All I have now is a Uniden ProHH401 handheld CB radio, a Midland 1001LWX CB radio and a Texas Ranger TR966 AM/SSB CB radio.
My radio tech recommended me to buy a President Lincoln II Plus and start studying to get my license ASAP. I'm an Albertan living in Calgary.
Should I look up a Calgary club and start it like this?
What equipment should I buy? Nobody is on CB channels anymore.
    Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks

Well im not sure how the vax thing will be in a yr or so or even in a few months..God knows...They cant use you inside ab or across canada at all??
Im not against the vax but not for it either...Just to much mis information to prove one way or the other re if it works or even good for ya..

Re radio....From what i hear cb is dead up that way but ham stuff gives you more options....The band you wanna be covering is the issue so i would look into some of the bigger radios that can cover more than say your prez or a stryker ect..
I would search out some of the ham clubs and go talk to some of the more senior members for idea on equiment suggestions....Then talk to the mrs and see what your allowed to get..lol

Divorced. No permission needed. By the way, I read all the posts in CB Radio section and I recall seeing your handle a lot. Your posts showed a lot of knowledge, useful info and common sense.
Thanks for replying. I'll keep following your posts.
