Wanting to purchase a 2005 Freightliner Miles on it is 490,441 for $25,000 from Select Trucks Dealer. Working on the terms. Am I making a right decision? Any of you experience drivers have any advise? Help!!
The truck is part of a Fleet from Transport America.

I've looked at some of the trucks around here at their dealership. Seem nice, and for that price, they were offering a 1 year warranty, though it's been a few months and I don't remember all the terms. I think it was drivetrain, with an optional upgrade.
Get a mechanic you trust to inspect the truck, or at least a reputable one not associated with the dealership.TheTruth1234 Thanks this. -
That price may be just a tad high, but considering you're buying from a dealer, and if it comes with a short warranty at least, you might be OK. Are you real dependent on the financing? What you really want is for them to fix ANYTHING that breaks in the first month. Beyond that, you'll have to pay for a warranty of some kind. And even then, it'll be a powertrain warranty.

That price looks OK to me but on their website, most seem pretty high and I've been looking around a bit. I like Baskins Trucks in Tn for there selection and prices. Was this truck priced low or did you work them down to an affordable # ?

Sorry for being a bit off topic, just wanted to note that.TheTruth1234 Thanks this. -
Don't be sorry .... thanks for the heads up. I will do a little more research on Baskins.

I googled Baskin Trucks and only found 1 complaint on the "Ripoff Report" back in 07. The BBB rates them A-

maybe there is only one complaint because they buried the other bodies ????

but seriously I have owned probably a dozen trucks that I've used locally and over the road most were used some were new. for me the new trucks were cheaper to operate providing you put enough good-paying miles on them. even though the payment and insurance is higher, fuel costs will generally be lower and repairs other than maintenance will be low and therefore you can drive the truck rather than waiting for it to be repaired. however if you drive locally doing piers etc. I would get an older truck for cheap cheap, and rebuild the engine and maybe the tranny put all new brakes and tires, maybe even paint it. don't go with the most horsepower and gears you can find, go with the economical to operate and repair, at least if you are trying to make money, if your making a fashion statement of some sort do whatever floats your boat. Then I know what I got and I can count on it and remember crappy looking trucks ALWAYS attract the DOT when they are looking for trucks to pullover. I would rather pay 2 grand for a paint job than pay 2 grand in fines over the few years the paint will last. and good looking equipment sometimes gets better loads. just something to think about. Think about this why do companies replace their trucks every few years ?? it's not because they want to spend money it's because they can generate more money with a new truck than a used truck so can YOU cheers everyone
