Considering your lifestyle, that you have published, I think you should go with a company with real APUs.

I think you will regret chasing the bigger money with Crete and sacrificing creature comforts and their micromanaging. You'll be needlessly sacrificing the quality of your daily life for $$$.

I'm happy for you're choice to go back to trucking though for at least the financial security and stability aspects of it.

There are companies that have very well equipped and maintained trucks and much less micromanaging.

I have checked 2 companies that do local and driver goes home every night just for curiosity. But the pay was very little and for now I want to continue living in the truck.
I pulled HM for 5 and half years but when changed company, I let that go.
I don't have any experience with tankers but I am sure there are companies that will train... and I bet the best outfits will require a few years experience.

Thank you! I will check them all. :)

Yeah... you may be right... can you suggest a couple companies like that? :)
I was looking for smaller ones but at this point, I am willing to look into big ones too....
    Have you worked for Crete?

I went back there today and met with another driver... "amazingly" he is in the account I have in mind, southeastern regional... and he has been driving for Crete for 15 years...
We talked for 3 hrs... while his truck was going thru A service.
He gave me name and phone number of his asset manager who is also the terminal manager. He told me this account is based in Marietta, GA and not in Lincoln, NE.
I liked many things he said about his experience with Crete and started to think that might be a good outfit for me...
But then I went to their clinic inside the Lenoir City terminal to know about this hair drug test new hires must take beside the urine drug test... Showed my very long hair to the "nurses" in the clinic and asked how much they would need to cut and from where... They said would cut the hair from back of my head, close to the scalp and send to the lab and lab would let them know if that was sufficient of not... If not, would have to cut more hair... :biggrin_1square1: And I really didn't like that response...
So... I am still undecided and will continue my search...

Yes, I have worked for both Crete and Shaffer. Good money. But I didn't enjoy their crappy trucks nor their management. I truly despised many of their policies and the atmosphere. But you can make good money.

IMO, since you are going to stay out for long stretches, you should hook up with a long haul carrier. A lot less customers to deal with. Many of them have well equipped trucks as a perk to help retain drivers.

I like where I am at. I do long haul reefer. 2021 Automatic Freightliner with diesel Apu, inverter, large factory fridge, dual bunk, Bluetooth. The pays decent. Only negative is the camera. The truck has almost all of the modern safety gadgets.

Company overall has around a thousand trucks. There are other things here besides Long haul also. But the best thing is I have a dispatcher that used to run his own trucking company. I live in Florida and he's based in Minneapolis area. I deal directly with him on almost everything. No middle people involved. He works with me. We treat each other as equals like it should be. Which I have found to be a rare thing in this industry.

Our Company also has their own driving school and company trainers.

Ok. Do they have dry van too? And a terminal in TN? If you can pm me the name of the company, I would appreciate. But if not, that's ok.

Their only terminal in the south is around Hickory, NC. I don't know if there is any dry van or not.

Thank you very much for your pm.
I will get more info from them.
I don't want to pull refer and don't want to go NE, west coast and Chicago.
One reason I liked Crete is that they have the southeast regional that doesn't go those places n driver can stay on the road for as long as driver wants n get up to 15 days off. Hard to find this in other companies so far.
Also want a company with terminal not so far from where I am in TN little north of GA. So that I can leave my vehicle at terminal.
The first company I worked for is a mega here in the city where I am. They are paying much better than they were when I drove for them n they have now the account they had before. But a new hire has to team for 4 months... I am not doing that again...
Anyway... thank you for the info. Will check them. Stay safe out there. :)
