So I start work for Sysco on Monday. Living in the Metro Detroit, MI area.

I plan to stay for a good year at least, I have other ventures I’m investing in (property etc) that I’m going to use the money I make to get squared away and hopefully buy a truck to go O/O.

My question is what would be the best sort of fright to deal with being in the Michigan/Great Lakes area being an O/O. Something I could potentially make good or equivalent money to Sysco for example with less work. I have a line from my Mother In Laws friend who works out in Texas and needs help with oil/tanker work but idk. That’s a lot of time away from home (wife’s pregnant plus two small kids already). Is there something more reasonable in this area that makes sense?

Being an owner op will never be less work than sysco. You won't be humping the 2 wheeler all day but you'll put it way more hours, that's certain. If your serious get out of that less work mindset right now

Overall I would imagine so, I was sort of just referring to the 2 wheeler up and down the ramp physical part

Got ya. I'd never go back to food service either. 1 year was enough for me

Apply to UPS. They will have best Benis and pay after 2 or 3 years.

Idk it's trucking a lot if it's overnight work . It's not very 9 to 5. You could do ltl and try to be PD guy so you can work days and be home daily. Gas hauling, shortage of them right now.
