Wow, an honest article on the "shortage". Imagine that. And it even mentioned the failure by congress to include parking relief in the infrastructure bill. Something pink just flew past my window. It looked like it had a long snout.

There is absolutely a shortage of drivers. I mean, when they can have drivers waiting at their disposal to do a load when they need or sit at a dock as long as they want, they definitely need more drivers because it essentially costs them nome nothing to collect drivers. I bet you if all these companies put every driver on a decent hourly wage paying every moment the truck is logged on duty they’d be saying otherwise.

When in doubt follow the money. The only shortage of drivers in the trucking industry is in the driver's wallets.

    Yep

I quit trucking to live in a house with my wife and kids instead of a truck for weeks At a time .

got a job working on the maintenance staff at a hospital , doing plumbing and electrical and working on chillers and boilers etc .

Now I install underground piping and maintain air and water treatment systems
I get paid by the hour , from when I leave my house until I get back home .

Earning more than the “average “ truck driver . And I haven’t worked more than 35-40 hours a week in years .

Yes, the article is as accurate as I have seen, probably ever.
Recently a fellow I went to high school with, we graduated in 1971, sent me a text,
" Go buy another truck, get out there and get the country moving again" LOL
I sent him a text in return.
" They have been shxxxting on me for 25 years, now they want to kiss and make up"
Wages, working conditions, hours, miles any way you slice it, it is no where near what I was doing when I first started in this biz in 1976.
