MPG goal vs reality?

i only worked at ONE company that had a fuel bonus. they found every way possible to make it hard for you to get that bonus.

i gave up trying, and paid them the bonus!!!!

 

Not even remotely realistic. Your only going to hit the mpg bonus in MOST cases in perfect conditions. Honestly your going to make a lot more money for yourself 99 times out of 100 just keeping the hammer down and getting a couple extra loads a month then the mileage bonus will ever pay.

 

Prime doesn't have a hammer to put down..... Lol

 

Only way you'll get that is bobtail or empty...

A friend just did 3,000 miles 1/2 bobtail and 1/2 empty refer. (New empty trailer move for walmart) and avg 9.4..

 

Most of the high mpg guys reach in their wallet and pay cash for a mpg bump.

Why....I don't know. But some people do.

At Conway I talked to a few people that had pets that would put 50 in the tank to keep mpg up. They withheld a penny per mile and had a higher mpg standard just because you had a pet. If you hit the mpg you got your penny back. That I can understand. Dumb all around but understandable.

Me I never turned the truck off...ever. because if I turned it off the ###### dpf would risk a clog & deration. Don't worry about their fuel. You aren't getting a special raise because of it. But your suits might get a bonus from your non idle sweating. Hit your 8.25 and you are good. You are a mega driver you aren't special and neither is the company.

 

I don’t work for Mesilla Valley and never have, but they are well known in the truckload industry to be one of the top van fleets for fuel mileage. Their trucks typically run 62-65 mph. They are clearly spec’ing their equipment properly for fuel economy. If they are pulling heavy freight doing this they are doing great. This article is old so who knows what improvements they have made since it was written.
My MPG goal is 5 at 65-70 MPH. This is fairly common for my freight. My right foot accounts for about .5 tenths swing in mileage on a good or bad day.

Fuels an expense, 100% write off, don’t need to hammer the truck but I would tell them to #### off and park the truck if they have a problem with the way I drive it

 

I worked at Prime for two years and they don't really give a #### about mpg and you won't see #### extra for trying to hit those silly targets. Don't cruise at 58, it's a waste of your time. If it's still 62 on cruise do it there.
