Okay, fellow drivers. I know a lot of places are running odd hours due to the labor shortages
in this country, but the Snow Shoe Travel Plaza in Snow Shoe, Pennsylvania could use our
help. The restaurant is running currently 11:00 AM to 8 PM Thursdays and Fridays, and 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends. Mondays to Wednesday they are closed, but the fuel pumps are still open 7 days a week. While that is inconvenient for many of us to eat, stop in and patronize them if you can. Would hate to lose another "Mom and Pop" place just because no one stopped in, even if it's just for a soda and snack.

Why should I go and support a truck stop that is only open 28 hours a week for food? If they are hurting that much for labor, maybe they should pay more.

This is no different than a trucking company paying 30 cents a mile when everyone else is paying 60.

I80 exit 147 in PA, you can't really see it from the highway so it's usually not too busy

Agreed lol I go to the Kwik Fill 13 miles west, 24/7 and they pump your fuel and clean your windshield and mirrors. Plus awesome food

Interstate 80 at the Snow Shoe Frontage Road exit. Doesn't really have a number. A few miles west of Milesburg.

I understand where you're coming from, driver. You do bring up a good point. It's just that I think there
might be circumstances beyond their control. I know one of the co-owners and he tries to pay a
    reasonable amount to his employees.

    bthomann,

Good point my friend. It seems like everywhere you go in this country no one wants to work anymore. Even McDonalds paying up to $15 per hour and they can't attract enough help. We should try and patronize these local Mom and Pop truck stops and the "big boys" too before they close forever.

    bthomann Thanks this.

Without going political here, why would anyone want to work? It's been made way too easy lately to sit at home and collect some form of government assistance.

Furthermore, why would anyone want to work in a truck stop? I mean, years ago it might I been a cool job for someone fresh out of high school, or a retired person. Or maybe a stay at home mom who's kids are grown. But to make a career of it?

Look around at the truck stops and the creatures you see there. I'm sad to say, most people are flat out hogs. Pissing on the toilet seats, or the floor at the urinals. Toilet paper flung around the toilets as if a bunch of toddlers were there. Empty water bottles sitting in every stall ( I only cringe when I see these).

I was at a convenience store one morning, they had some hot food under a heat lamp. I was watching as a fellow picked his nose, then reached into a cup of french toast sticks, takes a bite, and then puts the half eaten french toast stick back in the cup and walks away. And I publicly shamed him into buying those sticks. As he walked outside, he threw them in the parking lot on the ground. Climbed into his beat up W900 and drove away. Frickin hog.

Why would anyone want to clean up after someone like that??

Surely you don't mind paying more for everything you'd buy then?

You do realize that retail prices aren't set by profit numbers but based on market conditions? The retail price is already the maximum price the owners think will sell at the volume they want to sell at.
All raising labor does is cut the profit of the company.

    Mototom and gentleroger Thank this.
