Hey guys. I am looking for a good company to run loads from Ontario to the west (or occasionally east, too). I have no interest in running U.S anymore. My 5 year plan is to get going with a company, buy a house up in Northern Ontario soewhere along Hwy 11 and buy my own truck and just reset up there. Anyone have any recommendations, as I have just been bumping around Southern Ontario/Northeastern U.S for the past 25 years and I am not really very familiar with the good and bad actors in the Canada-only market.

LTL reefer. These guys ship back and forth between Ontario and their Surrey location but also travel to the States. They might be able to keep you Canada only.
I could list a few other Canada only fleets but I can’t speak to how decent they are.Pamela1990 Thanks this. -
If you're not against hauling steel you could talk to Locomote. They run out of the Soo to GTA and PQ I'm sure they run west a bit too.

What's up with JR HALL ? Didn't make the phantom short list? Do they suck now? In the interest of OP, they run all the way out to BC from ON. Or at least they used to, who knows now.

I work for a competing LTL Carrier, and there is a constant stream of drivers from them to us, some of the stories are pretty mind blowing, Bison level stuff.
I personally see them, esp their turnpikes, sleeping in pullouts/service roads/the side of Hwy 1 often. I asked one of the LCV drivers who was fueling next to me in Balgonie what the deal was, and he said he has to drive down to the last 5 mins, pull over and go into sleeper berth to make any of their plans. He also told me one time, when he got back to his home terminal @2:00am, he parked in the back of the yard and went to sleep. @6:00 am they came and tossed him out of the his OWN TRUCK, WITH HIS STUFF IN IT, so city could use it to make deliveries. He had to go sleep in the drivers lounge on the couch until noon, when dispatch wanted to watch sports on the TV over their lunch break and kicked him out of there.skipgears Thanks this. -

I am very thankful to be working with my outfit, a lot of good things have happened lately on the LCV side of the house, so i'm prob gonna do this truck and one more after it (with a stick shift). I refused a camera, and nothing came of it, so happy about that. All that being said, I watch the poor ######## on the OTR side of things, and its the same old ####. By the mile, OTR, someone has to lose for it to work; and that will always be the drivers. 75% of the highway guys are literally FIGHTING for city positions, none want to do LCV, cause its "to much work".
Its gotten so bad at 99% of OTR companies in Canada, no one can even tough it out anymore. 100% turnover every 3-6 months, completely mind blowing! -
Good article here on how immigration is keeping our wages at #### level .. All thanks to Trudy and the UN gang for a post-nationalist order. Where no one has a country to call home and we're all just participants in the big money game in rabid attempts to outcompete one another. Some kind of sick dystopia dreamt up by major bankers to keep us in a god #### maze chasing the next payout.Last edited: Nov 27, 2021
