Hey guys. I am looking for a good company to run loads from Ontario to the west (or occasionally east, too). I have no interest in running U.S anymore. My 5 year plan is to get going with a company, buy a house up in Northern Ontario soewhere along Hwy 11 and buy my own truck and just reset up there. Anyone have any recommendations, as I have just been bumping around Southern Ontario/Northeastern U.S for the past 25 years and I am not really very familiar with the good and bad actors in the Canada-only market.

Not sure what segment of trucking you’d like to go with but here’s a few decent Canada only outfits:

    P A Langevin.
    Carleton Place, ON.
Tridem reefers. LTL between Montreal and Vancouver.

    Kelsey Trail Trucking.
    Innisfil, ON / Saskatoon, SK.
B-Train flatbed. Between Quebec and BC.

    EBD Enterprises.
    Winnipeg, MB.
B-Train flatbed. Between Quebec and BC.

    Maye Transport.
    East Gwillimbury, ON.
LTL reefer. These guys ship back and forth between Ontario and their Surrey location but also travel to the States. They might be able to keep you Canada only.

I could list a few other Canada only fleets but I can’t speak to how decent they are.

If you're not against hauling steel you could talk to Locomote. They run out of the Soo to GTA and PQ I'm sure they run west a bit too.

What's up with JR HALL ? Didn't make the phantom short list? Do they suck now? In the interest of OP, they run all the way out to BC from ON. Or at least they used to, who knows now.

Yeah they’re an option too. They slip seat their trucks last I heard. Which isn’t something that works for most seasoned guys so I didn’t mention them,

Yes they suck now, used to be cream of the crop, now they're just another slip seated, totally gutted trucks, pushy, only "allowed" 36 hours off once you hit the yard, if you don't like it #### OFF, Drivers are a dime a dozen mentality.

I work for a competing LTL Carrier, and there is a constant stream of drivers from them to us, some of the stories are pretty mind blowing, Bison level stuff.

I personally see them, esp their turnpikes, sleeping in pullouts/service roads/the side of Hwy 1 often. I asked one of the LCV drivers who was fueling next to me in Balgonie what the deal was, and he said he has to drive down to the last 5 mins, pull over and go into sleeper berth to make any of their plans. He also told me one time, when he got back to his home terminal @2:00am, he parked in the back of the yard and went to sleep. @6:00 am they came and tossed him out of the his OWN TRUCK, WITH HIS STUFF IN IT, so city could use it to make deliveries. He had to go sleep in the drivers lounge on the couch until noon, when dispatch wanted to watch sports on the TV over their lunch break and kicked him out of there.

Ah, yah I recall back in the day they were one of the better places you wanted to roll with. I guess inevitability they all change into mega-carriers and bait us into cab for abuse. Back in them days trucking still had a glimmer of hope, or at least I still had hope it'd cycle back around to the good 'ole proper days, but instead it just kept tumblin' down into the #### festival we witness today. I'm keeping in tune just out of sheer curiosity how low can this industry go. What's the next downturn? What is the next augmented level of abuse. Today there's no stick shift, no paper log, god dam cameras in the cab, and pay is lowest on record. Oh and the robots are coming for these jobs soon too. It's like watching the Titanic sink, as the band plays on while the thing breaks in half and sinks slowly. So sad really. Knights of the road they used to call us, and now we're all just expendables marked for degradation, cruelty, wage-theft, and abuse.

Very Very accurate, the robots don't work in the snow/wind/BC/Ont, so slave labour it is.

I am very thankful to be working with my outfit, a lot of good things have happened lately on the LCV side of the house, so i'm prob gonna do this truck and one more after it (with a stick shift). I refused a camera, and nothing came of it, so happy about that. All that being said, I watch the poor ######## on the OTR side of things, and its the same old ####. By the mile, OTR, someone has to lose for it to work; and that will always be the drivers. 75% of the highway guys are literally FIGHTING for city positions, none want to do LCV, cause its "to much work".

Its gotten so bad at 99% of OTR companies in Canada, no one can even tough it out anymore. 100% turnover every 3-6 months, completely mind blowing!

Right. The whole truckin' meat grinder isn't new either, it's just gotten a lot worse. Their whole model revolves on hiring typically younger drivers with less experience, ones who are eager to please their new employers. Yet in turn they get run like a dog 70+hrs a week, 36 off and hop back in, rip 'em off on miles, and when they're about to burst or cry from exhaustion; take 'em out back and shoot 'em in the back of the head. That's trucking. Next! And they reload on a fresh new eager immigrant, and the bullsh!t wheel keeps on spinnin' and they keep milkin' it like that. No one puts up any fight or resistance since there ain't any decent unions left. They made sure to rid of those to avoid opposition and contest.

Good article here on how immigration is keeping our wages at #### level .. All thanks to Trudy and the UN gang for a post-nationalist order. Where no one has a country to call home and we're all just participants in the big money game in rabid attempts to outcompete one another. Some kind of sick dystopia dreamt up by major bankers to keep us in a god #### maze chasing the next payout.

Are you sure your talking about the same company? I know drivers that work for them out of the Ayr Ont. yard and they have nothing but good things to say about the company and have been with them for years.Well spec'd trucks and no slip seating. They run Ayr to Winnipeg every week and always reset at home.Highly respected company in Ontario .
