    Gold fish aquarium.
People can make their own decision on vaccination. I've had 3 shots and the 3rd one I also got a flu shot. No after effects; not even a sore arm.

    Staffed by volunteers?

Local food bank: the only paid position is the cook that runs the deli/kitchen upstairs. Those are both a revenue source for the food bank.

Everybody other than the cook is a volunteer.

The local food bank is funded by a deli and thrift store upstairs combined with gov't and charitable food donations. The gal that runs the place takes all the proceeds from the deli and thrift to buy stuff that is not being donated.

    Sorry to hear that.

I don't know anyone who has died from it.

If we want to be inclusive it would be all the territories received from Mexico with the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo signed by the U.S. and Mexico.

California, the Golden State, was not

Some west coast history that was most likely not covered in schools east of the Rockies.

Truck drivers here are mostly caucasian, next would be native indian, 3rd middle eastern. But probably 95% are caucasian, of those, 95% are male, most common age range being about 30 to 65, which is probably also 95%.
As a younger than average, blonde, female, my first 3 years I heard every ignorant comment possible about blondes, women, and how they can't drive. Eventually I got to be known, and earned the respect of most in the area. When i pulled a man out of the ditch during a bad snow storm, about 150 kms up a nasty logging road one day, he made sure to thank me numerous times, and tell everyone on the radio for the next week that it was he who hit the ditch despite his 35 years experience, not me, and I pulled him out. From that day forward, I was respected by almost all, but still hear one old guy make rude comments about me occasionally. He said something last winter about me over the radio, close enough to wherever the logging show owner was, he heard his snarky remarks. Boss chimed in " Well Ron, she maybe younger than you, blonde, female, and yet she is ten times better than you at driving, so you would be wise to keep your lies to yourself ". Haven't heard a rude comment from him since. Especially after a few others over the radio commented that they felt I was more that ten times better a driver than Ron. Ironically a couple of months later he hit the ditch, and it was me that stopped to help him, and pulled him out. He shook my hand, and sincerely thanked me. Even grumpy old men can have a change in attitude occasionally.

So the girl working the register at The Beacon is new. In fact it's her first day, and the girl that's not new, is pretty much a giant Karen leaving her to fend for herself.

She's no clue how to look up the trailer.

    SO

By the time she figures it all out, the truck is done, and she didn't charge me for the engine or undercarriage.

The OM feels like that was complimentary for the inconvenience.

Difference in perception down here.... the vast majority of drivers I see with B.C. plates are styling Middle eastern fashion accessories.

Same down here have been known to call your Provence Bhopal Columbia
