The news about truckers' shortage in the USA has been spreading very quickly in Brasil and some have been advertising for Brazilian truckers to come work in the USA and make lots of money.
Found recently several news articles in Brazilian truckers' websites.
I translated this one cause they are all in Portuguese.

    Article from https://www.ontruck.com.br/
    By: Camila Pimentel

"Can you imagine working driving a truck in the US and earning a lot of money? this is not an impossible dream."

"Everyone knows that the economy in Brazil is still recovering from the losses of the Covid-19 pandemic. The transport segment was one of the few segments that did not stop, but on the other hand, high inflation and rising fuel prices have directly affected the sector.
Today, in the United States, there is a huge shortage of truck drivers, generating a major crisis in road freight transport, causing companies in the segment to beg the government to make the entry of foreigners more flexible in order to meet this need in the country."

"Truck driver is among the many professions available to foreigners. According to data from Blommberg, working as a truck driver in America can earn a salary of up to R$ 80 thousand per month (U$14,336.92).
And why is this market so promising in the US? Because there is a shortage of 65,000 truck drivers in America, and that number could reach 180,000 in the next 10 years, according to the Census Bureau, US Census Bureau.
The US currently faces a logistical problem. With the lack of professionals in the transport segment, it is not possible to guarantee the delivery of all requested goods.
The problem is so serious that McDonald's food distributors are raising their delivery rates, which could drive up the price of goods, and all because of the lack of drivers in its fleet."

"Portal On Truck has always had its eye on the American transport market, so much so that in 2019 it interviewed truck driver César Simões, who is naturalized as an American.
One of the benefits of being a truck driver in the US, according to César Simões, is the efficiency of the government and there is not a lot of bureaucracy with tax documentation.
“The government is efficient. Everything the government moves is done well. I had a problem with a bill and I paid when I was approached, the system released it immediately. In Brazil this does not happen, as the system is very slow. It takes several days for the system to recognize a payment”, he highlighted."

    Article from https://www.acheiusa.com/

"According to the American Trucking Association, the US faces a shortage of at least 80,000 truck drivers. And this shortage is causing a shortage of supply chain in the country.

Florida Trucking Association (FTA) President Alix Miller said the deficit hits all categories of commercial drivers. But those who travel long interstate distances are the most in demand. “Truck transport affects every aspect of our economy,” said Miller.

To attract applicants, some companies are offering bonuses of up to $15,000 to new hires, such as food distributor Sysco. In addition to the bonus, Sysco guarantees salary of up to $110,000 per year plus benefits."

At least if they don't saturate the job market and don't cause lower wages and they don't bring more "crazy" drivers to the roads and they don't accept everything companies impose on drivers... that should be ok.... We shall see...

Why not...... everyone else is pouring in across the border. They can't be any worse than the current crop of steering wheel holders.

As long as CDL requires green card or quite expensive work visa I don't see anything crazy in truck market happening any time soon.

Knowing how traffic in Brasil is so much worse and dangerous and crazier than here, I want to believe that Brazilian truckers will be safe drivers here...
However, I wonder what that influx of foreigners, not only from Brasil will do to the job market and our wages...
American truckers already complain about pay and work conditions... Brazilians however believe they will become "rich" driving a truck here... Well... according to the misery they make in Brasil, and their living conditions on the road there, they may become very satisfied with whatever they get here and what companies pay when they start...

I'd rather see a guy who's been driving a year or two in Sao Paulo on our roads instead of an 18 year old fresh out of high school. I'm certain they will be just as disappointed in the pay and work conditions as we are. The mega carriers will probably pay their way here so that they can lock them into a contract of indentured servitude.
