Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well.
Lately I have been trying hard to stay away from pain medication. I am trying to tough out the pain. I have neck pain that radiates to my shoulder blades and upper traps. But neck pain is actually what bothers me the most. It affects my eyes too. Every couple of hours I get out of the car, do my PT moves, takes deep breaths, walk a little bit and then get back to driving. The whole process doesn't take more than 5 minutes. Although the pain doesn't go away, it is there 24/7, but this break every couple of hours makes it tolerable.
Any of you have chronic muscle pains? How do you manage driving 12 hours a day without medication?
Thank you!

I take gabapentin for nerve pain as well as epidurals in my spine 4 times a year and lots of ibuprofen and a $3000.00 seat.
I still hurt but stretching and exercise helpsSolo Soul Thanks this. -

I own my own trucks and trailers.
Full time I guess I only need to work about 35 hours a week drive time. I average 1500 to 1800 miles a week but I run percentage not mileage. So far this year 73,000 milesSolo Soul Thanks this. -

Here is an article from the New York Times about Chronic Pain and how a thirty year old book goes about fixing it.

Many use cannabis for pain management, and it works ( much to the dismay of the medical community, who stand to lose billions) but obviously, not if you're a trucker. Over the counter pain meds are like for children who may eat the entire bottle, they barely work, and of course, any prescription meds are out too. If you don't do Tylenol, the only solution is to stop and get out on a regular basis, even before you start to hurt. Kind of funny, it was the pain that kept many of us awake, even though Nancy Reagan thought otherwise.

I find it hard to believe you will make it through MEPS with chronic pain.
What Is MEPS, and How Do I Deal with It?
Have you tried a chiropractor or even acupuncture? Both have worked for me.Still undecided and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Good chiropractor that specializes in soft tissue manipulation. Along with strengthening exercises.
Still undecided Thanks this. -
The OP mentioned ‘driving a car’. That may be the root of your problems. Cars are some of the most uncomfortable, and poorly designed machines to operate long-term than anything designed by humans. Make adjustments/alternative mode of travel may be needed.
