Having known a few that attempted things like this she did not intend or think of the harm it caused you. It never crossed her mind. Instead of focusing on the negative which is her broken arm, focus on the positive. She is able to get the help she needs and you saved her life possibly two times. It is sad reality that this time of year is tough on folks and I promise you if she was able to discuss with you she would say sorry you were in the middle of this!

Sorry to hear this. Hopefully both of you will recover from this traumatic event. Unfortunately this is the time of year(holiday season)when some people get depressed (especially if they’re alone-no family, friends, etc.) and they contemplate committing suicide, sometimes using unorthodox methods-including using us as a “tool”. A lot of people feel that they have no one to talk to and they’re out of options. You did everything you possibly could to avoid her. You have my prayers for a quick recovery.

Yes I had a live stream going and my backup dedicated dashcam going as well. The CHP requested a copy of it for the file and my company got a copy as the in-cab outward facing camera evidently did not record it.

In the last couple years, I have seen more and more people walking along the highways. Especially at night, and most of the time they are wearing dark clothes so you don't even see them til you're just passing them. This woman was walking along the fog line very close, as I have seen a lot of people do but I could never have anticipated she would leap out into the middle of the lane. Hundreds of people saw it happen live on the youtube stream. Everyone who witnessed it live are also victims of shock and I'm sure they are deeply affected by seeing it.

I can't link any more of my videos here according to the moderator team. Plus, the footage is so graphic, I don't think it would be morally nor ethically right to do so.

Scottie you are handling this very ,very well so far. I turned on that stream about 5 minutes after it happened so i am very familiar with it . She definitely tried to kill herself and you unfortunately , or maybe in this instance fortunately, were the driver to hit her. You did an excellent job in trying to avoid her and she is very lucky to only have a broken arm. I am one of your peeps who watches as many streams as I can though I rarely comment.
Good to see you hanging in there. It was not your fault and you being a Marine has given you a mental toughness I feel. Keep up the great work and keep on trucking’!

I went down to the CHP office today to pick up the investigation report. They interviewed 4 witnesses including me at the scene. The officer's report showed that all witnesses were in agreement and the video as the 5th witness substantiated all of our statements. The officer wrote that he "determined that this was a deliberate attempt by **** to get hit by a vehicle to kill herself. As a result, no crash report was taken."

I asked for a FOIA form to get the pictures and bodycam footage from the officers responding to the scene as well.

My exwife read the investigation report and noted that she knows one of the witnesses who gave a statement at the scene. Small world.
