I know these seem like a great idea but I don't think they are. Back in a previous life I was a wildlife biologist. The agencies asked for input on this idea way back when and I told them all I could think of was a smorgasbord. Canines and cat species can sit at one end and just wait for dinner to come to them. Since then they have put out some videos showing their great success at providing safe animal movement corridors. I watch them every time I come across one and count animals. Predators are always far more common in the videos.

They’re pretty common throughout BC. I’ve never seen a slaughter of animals at one end and even if there was would that be be worse that seeing them painted on the grill of a truck or worse, someone’s low car?

I've never seen any data saying they have actually reduced animal strikes, it's all been hypothetical. I don't go looking for it so maybe there's info now that I haven't seen, but the videos show what they show. When they first started talking about these it wasn't about animal strikes but about reconnecting lands that had become segmented by roads and would lead to smaller population sizes of various species because some animals won't cross a road.

Quite possible about moving animals around and I’ve seen zero info on them but the ones I’ve seen have had miles of fence keeping the animals in and off the road. You see it in NL as well where there is so many moose everywhere.

I think the state of Utah also has one of those bridges on I 15.
