Okay so I have a fuller 9 speed on my dump truck, and I changed the output shaft seal on the back of the trans. When I took off the pinion nut (the truck sat for weeks and had no air was busy) the yoke spun freely in te trans even when in gear. My buddy told me just air it up shift it into low and high and you'll be good. So I did and it worked. But now another friend of mine told me I spun the gears out of alignment with the main shaft and it needs to come completely apart to re-time the gears? Does anyone know if this is true? I took it for a short drive and everything worked really smooth.

Its fine. Only way the timing will be affected is if you removed the back box.

You did ok. Default neutral is normal when a trans looses air. Most people don’t know this because it is always connected to something on the tail end that will not move until air pressure rises.

This is also one reason to cycle the buttons thru the ranges while stick is in neutral after startup before the first trip out. This ensures that everything works and the trans goes in to the gear you want it to.

Okay well I should also note when I took the seal cover off the bearing fell out because the truck was parked slightly downhill in my yard and it slid out when I barley tapped the shaft with the cover my accident. It fell in sand and dirt so I just put a new one in which I know is NOT the right thing to do because it should be changed with the race. I literally put 3-5k miles a year on it we do very local work and it's mostly used on site jobs so am I okay or will that new bearing screw things up?

Yeah I never worked on a fuller trans mainly just heavy equipment but one guy told me using an old race (which was still smooth but I know doesnt match 100%) will chew up a new cone bearing and that because the output shaft got moved around a little it's out of time. I got a little worried because I just put all new tires and other work into it, it suck that I ruined it but sounds like I'm okay
