Not bashing or criticizing anyone's business but this all started a couple years ago, girlfriend bought me the Stryker 655 package with the Stryker antenna from Walcott Radio. I loved the radio other than it always had lots of electrical interference noise and channel bleed over was bad (would be a lot of noise on channel 19 bit could watch the meter and change the channel as they were broadcasting and find the channel they were on. Do not know if fhis was Walcott tuning or not. Well 2 weeks ago a thief determined they needed the radio more than I did and stole it. I have been looking for a replacement and would really like to purchase a new tuned Stryker 955 and an Astatic mic. Started searching the internet and found a guy named Fine Tuned CB on YouTube, awesome, spent a couple days watching YouTube videos of his, guy sounds like he knows what he is doing. Sent him a Facebook message and no reply. So my question to all you great truckers out there, where is a good reputable place to buy one of these radios that is setup and tuned properly? Preferably someone that will sell and ship to me. Thanks

better off going back to Walcott's or maybe Bells CB...doubt that the tune had anything to do with the noise problems you were having...Thats more than likely just lack of grounding causing the trucks electrical system to mess with the radio...you would probably have the same issues with whatever radio you hook up.

Personally, other than the old Stryker 440's, I'm not that big a fan of Strykers, but everyone has their favorites.

Atlantic coast communications. At the Petro in Atlanta, also at the TA
north of Atlanta in Cartersville, Georgia.
I bought one three years ago from the one at Petro.
Very pleased with service and pricing.
It's been a awesome radio, haven't had any problems
out of it. Mine is the 655.

I was 10 feet away from the ACC shop at Cartersville today. I was getting a fuel receipt.

I would recommend buying from a shop that will do the conversion for you. I presume ACC will do that

He sells them ready to go and runs them on the bench before you leave with it. Seems like a guy that knows what he's doing and pleasant to deal with. I staged there Saturday night for a delivery this morning on that side of town, and somehow my old Cobra 29 changed into a 447HPC2 while I was walking the dog or something.

ETA: He has the 655 and 955 in stock. Another driver left with a 655 as I walked in.

I wouldn't recommend purchasing one of the new ones until somebody figures out how to fix this problem.

I'll bravely ask the question I'm sure some others have: what are we looking at and why is it a problem?

Some crazy spurs 11.75 mhz on either side of the fundamental frequency . It appears to be a mixer problem and no service manual alignment procedure would fix it. It's an engineering defect.
It produces some crazy harmonics also, and it's nothing you can fix by tuning. You definitely won't be using this with an amplifier unless you want to blow it up on purpose.

Thanks for that. Would this apply to just the 655/955, or other Stryker models as well?

Sorry for the ignorant questions. I'm only somewhat familiar with the various manufacturers and their features, but obviously not at the component level.
