Aw, come on. Common sense has no place in the trucking business. How can the mega's enslave young inexperienced driver's, if the common sense approach is allowed.

You know, if one day every driver logged "on duty, not driving" for every minute they spent getting loaded, unloaded, waiting for fuel, waiting to get to a dock, waiting to get a tire changed, etc......maybe they'd get the message.
    But that will never happen.
You see, it's an unspoken agreement between liars. The FMCSA, the company, and the driver.
    And that's the hard truth.

I do that every summer. Leave on Monday, home Friday cuz I’m outta hours. Take my weekends on my boat. Dispatch can’t figure out why I’m always outta hours all summer. Lol

I wonder if the author pays his drivers OT as they drive around the country for Landstar?

There’s a reason they killed Hoffa. And we’re seeing it now.

This is exactly right. And we have a cadre of folks in here that insist on reading the regs about duty status while at a dock getting loaded/unloaded and absolutely insist on going into sleeper berth to give away yet more of their time.

Broker called one time to see why I was sitting for an hour.

told him 30 min for fuel and 30 for my rest. He said “ya but your fuel time counts are a rest period,” I kindly reminded him my fuel time is my fuel time and that’s not resting.

Opus and Studebaker Hawk Thank this.
