Bought my 2nd truck!

2016 Pete. Otr east coast.

 

I just cant imagine running 5-6 days out for that wage. I ran "super regional" for a bit. Made 24% of total gross including accessorial and fsc. Generally did close to 2k a week sometimes more and ive never worked more than 5 days. Usually leave the house monday morning and home friday around noon... with a potential for a few nights at home midweek depending on whats happening.

 

Keep us updated on your journey. I'm in the same boat.

 

I should be clear... im not trying to rain on your parade, and i hope your venture is a success. I just feel like finding a good driver will be difficult. Best of luck sir

 

to old for the new guys who just want a pay check, to new for the old guys who want something they can take pride in

Probabaly have better luck on Craigslist or FB marketplace .

 

I was just thinking that.

I made so
Much money with one truck that I bought more .

my wife is an accountant and did the books .

my drivers got 30% of the gross to the truck , and were home almost every night.

but what I didn’t count on was them not wanting to work.
My accountant did the math and the hired drivers , ( at one time I had 6 trucks and 5 drivers besides myself)
The hired drivers worked almost exactly 66% as hard as I did.

And the maintaince and repair costs went through the roof

I could get years from a clutch and the hired drivers would get maybe 9 or 10 months from a clutch until is was toast and slipping .
Same with tires and brakes and everything . They will not take care of your truck . They just won’t .
Sure one driver out of 300 might treat your truck well, but the rest will destroy it in a year.

I got so frustrated I just sold all of them and got a normal job.
