Saturday was my last day in food service. Lol, that didn’t last very long. Although I will recommend it to anyone in a warmer or standard year round climate, hazmat was what I got into this for from the beginning.

So with that being said today is my first day with my new company, which I’ll pass on naming due to not remembering the finer details of said confidentiality agreement.

I was hired on as a fuel transport driver with a starting training rate of $20.00/ph which after the required 4-6 weeks (I imagine it to be possibly shorter) that will be elevated to $25.00/ph.

My current training schedule is 5AM-until (lol no complaints from me) with a guy named Smith. Smith’s pretty cool. Smith isn’t his real name but whatever. So far I’ve watched (and helped a little) Smith go through the entire process of loading at the rack to unloading at the customer start to finish. Not back breaking work, but definitely brain exercising work…or die. Jk. But no mistakes allowed.

Apparently there are 3 drops in order for the rest of the day, currently sitting around at Buckeye because they haven’t started up my process to be carded yet. But we leave here and visit a less ceremonious area in inner Detroit, where my wife is from and where violent crimes regularly occur and an automobile plant, also in an unceremonious area where violent crimes regularly occur…on plant property *shrugs* I’m assuming I’ll see some ####ery today because no day is perfect! And I’m enjoying it thus far all too well!

Just passing by and Pamela1990 Thank this.

Detroit is fun. If you have to go anywhere near 94 and Mt. Elliott tell them you want hazard pay.

You'll see some almost every day if you deliver to gas stations. Hopefully you never see any at the rack.

It’s been great thanks for asking. Considering this is pretty what my intention was from the jump I’m loving it and definitely feel as though I made the right decision as far as my lane when it comes to driving.

I’m carded at 5 terminals now, just got issued a card out at the Citgo in Jackson doesn’t work yet so they’ll need to see a few fill ups.

All in all my worst complaint is dealing with Michigan weather…but a trip to the Carhart store fixed that in 30 minutes lol
