Thanks for taking the initiative to keep us informed. I'm a wannabe and with things the way they are now in trucking, I anxious to hear everything I can from drivers just starting with a company. I know you are not a wannabe, you are a few years beyond that stage, but it's still good for us to hear about your experiences. My best wishes for success and happiness with Crete!

    cho,
where are you at? i used to drive for crete and they were really good, it's been a couple of years and i think i maybe heading back to them as they are for sure the best out of the choices i have at the moment, i have been off the road for yr and a half or longer now and do not want to just settle for the bottom... ( unless i just have to to get back in the game ).....anyway i have been talking to them and i'm getting ready to start the paper work now new app etc....so plz keep us posted on how its going, it will be a few more weeks before i head out so i will have plenty of time to hear some news from you....if it has not changed much you have for sure made the right choice, one thing that has changed are the benefits, i hear they take effect 1 month after hire now, it used to 60 or 90 days......

oh and i also found out that the trucks are a bit slower now, they were 65 mph when i was there, now i hear they 62 mph.....but thats fine the goodness of the company makes up for a few miles per hr.....

Well so far,so good....first day went well if slowly, as they always do at this stage!! Got through the pre-work screen no problem, I was a little worried about the physical as i have type 2 diabetes but got through that without a problem and a one year medical card. Office staff at Ottawa are very friendly.

A nice relaxed start to the day today as we dont have to be in till 10am!! Starting work on benefit elections today and yes they DO kick in after 31 days!! Also look very affordable! Drug test results should be in late today or tomorrow!!

    End of Day2.....
Day 2 was hazmat vids in the morning followed by tying up loose ends on various i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed.... Useful info for Type 2 Diabetics, if you can geet a letter from your physician stating you are not on insulin, not a big deal but will save you some time later!!! Also, have to get a fasting blodd sugar test through one of their terminals within the next 30 days and they give you 45 days to get your hazmat started..and reimburse up to $100....just waiting now for the results of the drug screen and then should be in a truck and off.....and probably next week to one of their main terminals for the 'main' orientation (I have absolutely no idea why they do that!!!!

    Take care all
    Chris

I don't care how good Crete is now . They are only that way because they HAVE to be . FMCSA really cracked down on them after they pushed one of their drivers until he killed 7 kids . They paid over $50,000 in fines after an audit , mostly for not meeting random drug testing requirements . The same killers are still running the company .

Great to see a fellow football fan...why R. Benitez? I am all for Arsene Wenger but that's another story. I am glad you are updating us on you time at Crete. I have been working tirelessly to get on-board but you already how tough that journey gets. Thanking you for keeping us posted.
