Please don't unfriend me, but they have known the ELD can be remotely hacked thru its telematic connection since 2016.
    1. Omnitracs admitted this in an interview: 28 – August 2016 – http://www.fleetequipmentmag.com/hack-heavy-duty-truck OMNITRACS, THE MAJOR MANUFACTURER OF ELDS, ADMITTED THAT ELDS CAN BE HIJACKED! when their Product Manager was asked if their ELD can be hacked he said, (without embarrassment mind you) : "consider the complexities of a vehicle network and telematics devices that essentially connect the vehicle to the Internet and you start to see the potential safety and security threats to a vehicle.”
    2. August 2016 – “Following the use of a heavy-duty truck in a terrorist attack in Nice, France, last month. Assistant U.S. Attorney General John Carlin told Trucks.com that the federal government was worried that an increasing array of autonomous driving features, which is the installation of telematics, in trucks …could turn them into terrorist weapons.” Follow me for more great news or maybe start digging yourself

Sure they can probably hack a truck and maybe takeover throttle control but the yellow and red knobs ain't electronic and neither is the steering system. No issues getting it stopped and steered off the road.

They can't hack a truck wirelessly. My company can barely get this POS to cooperate with the appropriate software and a laptop. The omnitracs box has no way of controlling the truck in any way.

Hacking your ELD lets them falsify your logs. Wow. Such danger.

Of course this DOES mean a bunch of super truckers will be taking coding classes at the local community college now.

    So maybe it IS dangerous.

So @rubber.ducky are you worried? It's almost 2022 and how many terrorists have hijacked a Semi in the US to date? You must be bored or something.

No classes needed and not much of super truckers if they don't know which one we can mess with. Just saying.

The brakes can over power engine output.
If someone hacks in and gains control of your throttle, just leave it in gear, and stand on the brakes till the engine stalls.
