Hello truckers! My big brother starts his first trucking job in just a couple weeks, and I want to get him a smart TV to mount in his truck as a Christmas present! So I'm wondering - what's the max size that can be mounted in a truck? I'm currently looking at 32" TVs, though if a larger one will fit then maybe I'll spend a little extra to get him a really nice TV!

He's currently looking at working for either JBS or Crawford (Crawford is a local company in Des Moines Iowa).

    Thank you!

Depends on what truck and model he is getting. Let us know and we can help more. I'd say 32" is perfect. Nice gift from you

You don't want to get him something TOO big. Anything bigger than 32" will eat up his eyeballs. Even a 32" might be too much. As a trucker, I have NEVER watched TV. If I want to see something, I just use my phone or tablet. But I run pretty hard, so I rarely have free time. By the time I stop for the day, I just want to get my ### in the bunk.

Just a thought...if he is going over the road, instead of a TV which he might never watch, why not get him a Blue Parrot headset? Or a GPS? Those things he will LOVE.

Depends on the truck. If it’s a Volvo or Freightliner a 32” should be ok. If it a Mack I think a 24” is the max.

Last two trucks I had (2015 Freightliner Cascadia & 2019 International), a 32" was max, but it really depends on the truck & what model it is. The TV mounts are in different places & some are somewhat restricted.

Thank you everyone for your replies!

My brother loves watching TV, enjoys gaming, and sleeps to the sound of his TV, so I know he'll definitely want a decent sized smart TV in his truck.

I went ahead and got a 32" figuring he can just return it and get something else if it doesn't fit. The TV is returnable until the end of January and he'll know what kind of truck he'll be driving before then.

    Thanks again, everyone!!!
