Def is about 70% water. If you keep topping off at say 80% def load. Then over time enough water will evaporate off in the near consistant def load to start to cause issues especially in hot dry enviroments. It takes a long time, say weeks or even months maybe more if your tank is better sealed then mine for example but i saw it begin to happen when i tested my own def, when i didnt let it burn enough off for too long. So its just cheap insurance to burn off enough to keep the ballence more in line.

I have never found DEF with a high concentration. It’s always diluted or low….always.

One of those things I guess I would have to see to believe.

Awe. Ok. That actually does make sense after watching a video about API certified DEF. They talk about storing it below 85F and out of the sunlight. Working on a farm, I know that when we sprayed melted urea or melted KCI (potash), and the water would evaporate in a few seconds, the previous solid product would appear as a film on the leaves of the plants.
So would a new sensor system have issues with a bit over concentration vs. dilution?

The acceptance threshold is about plus or minus 2% from the correct level of 32.5%. Outside of that range and your gonna have issues.

For the mathematically challenged that’s around 30.5 -35% range.

    Deezl Smoke Thanks this.
