Do you duct tape or put a bag over the exhaust on loaded equipment?

Have to watch on newer equipment a lot of them the pipe out of the aftertreatment module sits inside the stack and the bottom of the stack is open to the engine bay, so cool air can be drawn up and out the exhaust with the gasses. Kind of like the exhaust tips on a diesel pickup.

I found a "dogbone" wash sponge or 2 with a light rope/heavy string tied around it/them in a plastic bag stuffed in the exhaust pipe and the string tied to something on the unit works great, leaves no tape residue and cant cause trouble if you forget and start the unit before removing.
It is also comical if the string is loose and you start the unit and the sponge goes flying.
Regulars used to laugh when I told them to "go long"

We cover all of ours as well as equipment we rent. It may not be at all necessary, but it only takes a minute and can't hurt. We use these:

Leaves a sticky mess though, and whistles like mad when you forget to take it off. As my friend would say "not that I would know about such things".
