It is inspiring to read about how much you love reefer work.
Maybe I should look into getting a reefer, and stop hauling logs and fuel. :)

I prefer industrial accidents, but then I'm a romantic at heart.

I don’t have any goals. I’m a wretch. I have extremely low standards and consistently fail to meet them. I’m a wretch and I should be purged from society. I’ve but one request, however. May the purger be a Kentuckian. At least then, there will be a shred of dignity in this whole ugly affair.

I am a goal oriented person so I don't know if I should just stick with city driving after my year and stay comfortable or go challenge myself, but then I would giving away some of the nice perks. The next step is not very cut and dry in this profession.

Work less, but I already work part time hours so maybe just quit altogether, I dunno.

Daily: To survive the day to day soap opera of working with junior high gossips trapped in grown men's bodies without getting fired for brawling.

Weekly: To get my fleet manager and Atlas corporate to approve me for interstate travel so I won't have to keep getting paid Trident Layers per hour for local work.

Monthly: To start doing interstate jobs and finish paying off my credit card debt.

Yearly: Decide if I want to stay in HHG or use my 1 year exp to switch to LTL furniture hauling. Also, if I decide to stay in HHG then also decide whether I want to stay company, or go lease-operator or owner-op.

Good thread. I plan on checking back in at a week, month, and year to see how I did.

I try to set goals and push myself to succeed on a daily basis but at my company it appears the guys that work hard often get less hours because they don't waste their day sitting around for 30-40 minutes at each stop. I see now why many people don't like Union gigs. It has many positives but many take advantage.

Having an employer who recognizes and rewards a strong work ethic is such a blessing. It's common business sense too, but surprisingly rare.
