2004 Freightliner Columbia. Truck runs great but it cranks really hard when it’s cold. Starts a little better after it’s warmed up. No check engine light. Only has a abs light on. Any ideas?

The cold will show the weakness in batteries and starters, as well as cable connections, starter has to work harder and pull more juice from the batteries the colder it gets.
I would load check batteries and verify all connections are clean and tight first, then look into the starter. -
I’ve took the cables off and cleaned them up. It’s been doing it for a while. Even in the summer. Acts like an engine that is vapor locked. After you run it and warm it up, it will start back easier, but still isn’t right.

Cranks slow or it takes an excessive amount of cranking before it fires off?

Has the starter ever been replaced? The brushes and commutator may be worn enough that it is no longer making a good complete circuit.
