So you're telling me that there's a level of personal responsibility that we're expected to follow regardless of paper logs or eld???

Does the dot seriously expect a lowly trucker to exhibit common sense and diligence to refrain from driving while exhausted or in adverse weather while exhausted or 15 over posted while tired in poor weather?

No eld or paper log is capable of keeping humans from making poor decisions.

E-logs couldn't keep that guy in Colorado from making a terrible decision and lives were lost because of it, if he were on paper logs the outcome would have been the same.

I'm pro paper logs but far more in favor of people using common sense to refrain from running long hours over HOS simply for bragging rights.

Man....I thought the Paper Log vs ELD debate was behind us. It's been 4 years now. I actually make more money now than when I ran paper. I was always taught that "Creative Logging 101" was the way to make more money. I tend to believe that the way a load is planned is the biggest key to getting the good money. For company drivers, having dispatchers that know what they're doing makes all the difference in the world. Owner ops don't need to kill it that hard if the load pays appropriately. I prefer ELDs, because I think it makes trucking easier, but I don't really see where paper is that advantageous at this point. Whether you run it legal or not, it's still about a 10 hour or so day to run 650 miles. Why a driver wouldn't be gassed after that, its beyond me.

I lost three days after trying that. But now I hear three different radio stations in my head 24/7.

So that's cool. Well worth it, really.

I noticed that too. Why are so many COMPANY DRIVERS or people that don't drive at all in the OWNER OPERATOR section of the forum telling actual business owners how to run their businesses?

I also couldn't help to notice that most of them are rabid union supporters. The fascist connection here is quite obvious among the Reds. Lenin would be so proud.
