That’s the question, does your company allow you to keep a gun in your truck for protection? If I have to sleep in a parking lot or a truck stop, I would feel safer with a weapon in my vehicle.

Being over the road, there are a lot of transients and hoodlums out there. Again sleeping in a lot in an unknown place, my truck would be safer but how much more than some homeless person in their car?

    Guns, yay or nay?

Most companies will not let you. If you own the truck as long as your state has reprocity with other states for concealed carry, then yes you can have a gun in the truck.

I own trucks and some things are best handled by using the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy. This is one of them. ;)

I can’t tell my people not to do something that I would most certainly do myself. I don’t care what any law says.

And yet, in over 11 years out here I have never felt threatened enough to want or think I needed a gun.

For many years my young daughters traveled with me during the summer months, never a problem.
And they went out alone very often.

I have never felt the need, which might come back to bite me someday.

If you feel the need, it is not what a company policy states that makes the difference.
Your truck sleeper will not usually be searched (unless maybe you are going into a military base).
If you feel the need to have it, then have it quietly.

Yes, I carry. I also have a can of wasp killer that shoots 20-25’ and is better than bear repellant at stopping something coming at me.
which would I use? Time will tell

There is no federal law or DOT rule saying that you cant have a gun in the truck. However, most companies & some shippers/receivers don't allow guns on their property. Some places are "secure" properties like ports, military bases, chemical plants etc. These people WILL have you arrested! Some states & cities have very strict laws regarding gun laws & if you're going to carry, you need to be aware of each state & city regulations so you are compliant in the event you are found with a gun.

In the end, what are my thoughts on the matter? See my profile below.......

Have for over 30 years, have had the need a few times. Once for attempted robbery in NJ.
Once for a lot lizard pimp because I was rude to his HO and basically opened the door after 3 times of telling her NO. She fell down and skinned her ###. He figured on scaring me and wanted to rob me at knife point. You know the saying.
Things are better than they use to be
    But still some rough areas.
Other reason it is my right to CCW where legally allowed.
Now granted we have some hot heads that shouldn’t carry. But not for me to decide

Hmmm tough question here. I can't add anything the others haven't already said. I personally don't carry as I'm not a pro 2nd amendment guy, but that said, if you do carry, be responsible with it and double check laws wherever you travel....that includes gun storage laws. Some states will bring the hammer down.
