Are you allowed to have a gun in your truck?

Educate yourself on the law. You do need to know the law for transporting a weapon in a vehicle. Ie. you need to have the gun in a safe and ammo in a second safe.

I recommend that you get your CCW permit in the state you live. While many states have constitutional carry those rights don't transfer across state lines.

Also, some states limit magazine size to 10 rounds.

I carried for years with no issues and always locked my weapon while traveling through communist states.

If you feel the need to protect yourself then you are probably correct. It is your right to do so

 

California doesn't even allow you to bring ammo into the state. It must be shipped to a licensed dealer due to the state's requirement for a background check to buy ammo

I'm not going jump into this debate. Lots of strong opinions on both sides and I'm not going to judge. I don't carry and so far never felt the need.
All that said, I was just wondering what would be the issues to carrying a 'fake' gun. One that looks like the real thing, but upon close examination it would be obvious that it would be incapable of doing anything other than perhaps used as a hammer. Just a thought. The example I was thinking of is a regular 9 mil, but with the action missing and/or the barrel internally messed up so that a round would be impossible to even be loaded.
