Possibly. That would certainly bring in below height. But what I posted was all the information they sent. It was just another one of the million spam emails that brokers send. They did include their price, and I'll post that later.

Let's say I'm under my own numbers, so 100% figures. Hypothetical Blair also uses a permit service.

    KS - 20, OK - 50, TX 62 + 3 times 22 for order = $198.

    1 Escort OK, 288 miles from Wichita to TX/OK line $1.65 mile = $475.20

    630 mile run at $6/mile $3,780

Total of $4,453.20 - Add 5% for wiggle room, additional. miles -

    $4,675.

Do I win the jar of jellybeans?

I might start the negotiations at $5900, and let them feel like they got a deal with $4700 bottom dollar. After all, it leaves you with $3,780 for a lazy Friday pick, Monday drop that shouldn't take more than 2 days if you can get rolling on Friday.

Would this be a winter rate or just anytime rate? Guessing just a regular quote without considering bad weather?

A bit of both - the shorter days put a cramp on productivity if you can't run continuous travel. Over the weekend on something this small in those 3 states, I'd only watch for bad weather in KS and OK. Research that before booking too.

Is there still a width restriction on 35 south of OK City where the construction is? Wasn’t it 10’ or 12’ ?

I haven’t been through there lately.

Maybe so - that's why I'd throw the 5, maybe 10% on top for additional miles incurred. It was 12W restricted a couple of months back I recall.

Thanks. They had it for $3,400. I figured it was low, but wasn't sure how much.

About $6/ mile all in, or thereabouts. AND, you have to assume they're lowballing it a little to make some $$. ??

I'm sure there's guys that would be in for that, know a cheaper escort - say for $350 - order permits themselves or have blankets, and it may suit them to run it.

Hats off to them - we all have our price.

Note - I'd have to be in at $5500-$6000 on the Landstar board to hit my estimated figures. And a LS agent would shop it to an outside carrier for the $4500 figure and make a little more on the deal.

Anybody else want to weigh in? Interesting discussion I thought.

I'd have to let them know I'm not running any half off promotions right now. I bought banners and flags and flashy lights and have done a total of 1 oversize load lol. I quit bothering with them because I'd waste 10 or 20 minutes looking up what I'd need for what state and then their rate was always about half of what I came up with. I'm wound a little tight, and combined with blowing my one and only steer doing the one and only oversize, I have to price that in too lol.
