Because of the cold weather in AB and SK my truck stays on idle overnight. I noticed that each 4 hours engine RPMs go up and it looks like truck is heating up exhaust to clean DPF. Soot level is going down little bit too. After about 30 minutes it turns off, No messages and codes show on the truck and truck works great.

Im just wondering is this every 4 hour thing normal or if you can change some settings in ECU for this?

Sounds like it's just trying to Regen.

Yeah I know she clears the soot little bit, and soot is very low all the time. Im just wondering if this is something that you can adjust in settings

Why would you want to? It's doing what it's supposed to do as an emissions truck.

I like to be educated but when it comes to emissions I figure Mack/Volvo knows what they're doing. I also have a Mack, FWIW.

My Mack (which is part of Volvo) with an MP8 would do something similar.

Why mess with a perfectly operating dpf system.. idling in the extreme cold requires extra heat to clear soot . I know it’s annoying in extreme cold but shutting down due to plugged dpf is far more annoying.
