I’m helping a friend move from Atlanta to central New Jersey. We are renting a 26 uhaul. What is the best route to take? We will be breaking down the trip into two days, Saturday and Sunday, to a avoid traffic.

what would be a good hotel to stop for the overnight? I should be able to go at least 500 miles on the 60 gallon tank.

I was going to use google maps but it doesn’t indicate a road where trucks are not allowed.

do I need to stop at the weigh stations?

    thank you

I hate traffic in the DC / Baltimore area, so I would probably take I-85 from Atlanta to Charlotte, I-77 from Charlotte to I-81, I-81 to Harrisburg, and then take I-78 into New Jersey. You could go through Philadelphia and then take I-76 but that's a toll road.

I don't think you'll need to stop at weigh stations or ports of entry, but check the states' websites just to make sure.

Lexington Va right off interstate 81, exit 195: turn left to Howard Johnson and Quality Inn. Plenty of room to park a truck.

Miles from Atlanta to Lexington: about 475 miles.

Thank you, maybe I will. I’m familiar with the interstate highways, what is 29 and 15 like? Any lights?

I would not drive it in one day. No need to be a hero. Just program in your destination on google maps and hit GO. No need to stop at weigh stations either. Have a good trip.
